Significant tattoos: Symbols more or less?

Posted by: admin   in Symbols Tattoos

I’ve always wanted to get a tattoo, nothing bigger then a Canadian looney. I want to get something that is significant, that has great meaning. I refuse to put any ones name on me, unless it was my children who are not yet born, never mind conceived, lol. So, if you would be so kind in telling me what YOU would get, and what other possible symbols that are significant. Very meaningful and powerful.

i am getting a tattoo this weekend actually of something that means a lot to me. :)

i am getting a crescent moon with 7 stars scattered next to it. the 7 stars are for my 7 immediate family members (mom dad sis grandparents) and the moon/stars theme is for my life long love for astronomy and just stars in general.

when i’m looking at the stars at night, i feel peaceful, and by putting a star for each member of my family, it kind of symbolizes my family being in peace for once… since they have always fought with each other and gotten divorced, etc.

it means something to me, and thats all that matters really. :)

I have LOTS of tattoos, they where all significant to me when I got them years ago but now they are no longer representative of things that are important to me. Keep that in mind because it will probably be the same case for you.

I just got mine yesterday. I got a triquetra with my mothers (dead), my sisters, and my own zodiac symbol worked into it. The triquetra symbol is one of the oldest symbols out there, but for me it signifies 3 very different stages in my life.

I got one yesterday, but have been working on this tattoo for 6 years.

I was thinking about getting ‘dad’ in a chinese symbol or something neat like that somewhere on my body in rememberance of my father. That’s the closest I’d ever get to having someone else’s name tattooed on my body. I also thought about getting a cross to represent my faith.

I think something that has to do with religion is probably the most powerful and meaningful type of symbol anyone could have tattooed on their body. That’s my opinion, though, because religion is probably the touchiest subject for anyone.

Never get anyone’s name tattooed on you, especially a boyfriend. They may not last forever in your life. If you’re going to get a tattoo, make sure it’s something that has a lot of meaning to you now so you won’t look back on it and regret it.

I have several tattoos, but they are just designs/pictures I like. One is more significant then that…..of all things my star tattoo (which I’ve had over 10 years) It is for my son. The rest are just pictures I love (mostly flowers)

The key to not regretting a tattoo is spending plenty of time in deciding what to get. For a first tattoo I would say you should know what you are going to get and where it will be placed for at least a year before you get the tattoo.

On my first tattoo (at 19) I had known for over 2 years I wanted a tattoo and over a full year what is going to be……and I still love that first tattoo as much as any of the others!

I’m not sure what I would get, but I also want a small, meaningful tattoo.
I’m only 14 though so I have lots of time to think about it.
Some of my ideas:
-The words "Om Mani Padme Hum" and a lotus flower
-A pair of doves
- A fairy coming out of a flower

They are all symbolic and important to me in their own way
