i want to get a tatoo of some angel wings in memory of my miscarried baby. what are some good websites to find this sort of tattoo? any ideas of nice tattoos? i want something nice not gothic or cartoon like. any input would be appreciated thanks!
There are loads of custom only tattoo studios, I suggest you find one you really like and sit down with the tattooist and discuss with him what kinda thing you’re after and the size etc, he can then draw up some different designs for you. As it’s something that’s very close to your heart, I think it would be nicer to do it this way than looking for ideas on the net, then you can have something that’s very individual to you and your baby. Don’t rush it, take your time. Good luck.

I’m thinking about getting one, but i dont really know. I’ve always wanted the ‘love’ symbol. But i’m scared that if the tattoo artist messes up a little bit it might change the meaning of the word and i’ll be screwed.
What do you think about a hibiscus flower with the chinese symbol for "love" overlapping it in the corner? Would that look stupid? Anyone have a picture of what i just described?

I’m chinese, and I have a chinese character for "Mother" on my back. I find it funny that people call them "symbols," they’re actually words. But to foreigners, I would guess they look like symbols. hehe

And by the way, the tattoo parlor did not have the "Mother" character "on stock," so I printed it from my computer exactly the size I wanted it. They put it through a machine to get a tracer paper of the tattoo in which they dip it with ink and stick onto your body like a sticker. After they pull it off, it will leave a print of the tattoo, which is how they actually tattoo you, by following the print. So if you’re afraid they might mess up, print your own copy of the word and bring it with you.

the center? Does this have any particular meaning? It is slightly offensive to me, as Christ died on the cross and ascended into Heaven, body, soul and all. No skull left behind.
The majority of tattoos like this have no significant meaning other than their design. If you walk into a tattoo shop, you’ll most likely find hundreds of tattoos with similar design on their walls on in their books.
I have 11 tattoos, none with skulls or crosses, but they are all designed by me and have very significant meaning.
Maybe you should ask your friend if there is particular meaning behind his? While the majority of those tats have no significant meaning, maybe to him, they do.

Depends on what you like. I personally chose to get my tattoos where they’re not normally visible. One thing to consider is what profession you ultimately want to get into, because in certain job settings having a tattoo looks bad, and some jobs flat out won’t allow you to have visible tattoos. On the other hand, I have friends and coworkers (at a restaurant) who have visible tattoos on their arms or wrist.
And that aside, what do you feel suits your personality best? Another reason I shy away from visible tattoos is simply because I’m too classic pretty-preppy to pull it off.
Have you considered the back of one of your shoulders? I think that’d be a cute place for a bird tattoo, plus it’d only show when you wear tank tops.
I want to get a tattoo of a bobcat in a tribal design that doesn’t look cartoony or mascot-ish.
